Here's a link to Indianapolis's historic aerial photo archive. Goes back to 1937. I was amazed at how many yards with roundhouses were around. This if fun to see what was and what's now. Does your city have a map like this?
in the photo below. The Monon Yard is on the left and the Nickle Plate on the right.
