Old Joliet Prision posted On May 22, 1858 fifty-three prisoners, 50 men and 3 women, arrived at a small structure which would become the Old Joliet Prison. They began the work of constructing a larger prison around themselves, including the quarrying of limestone from the vein which runs through Will County just a few hundred feet from the prison. |
