| Dennis DeBruler commented on Daryl's post You can tell the C&EI tracks because they have white ballast. Based on the topo map, I think the depot was just east of the mainline and below Monroe Street extended. [1940 Aerial Photo from ILHAP The best resolution of the Federal photos was just 60,000.] |

| Andy Zukowski posted Illinois Central Railroad Depot in Sullivan, Illinois. 1916 Photo by Williams. Rickey Ferguson: There were 3 lines in Sullivan that interlocked at the west edge of town: The Illinois Central (IC), running east/west; the Chicago & Eastern Illinois (C&EI), running northeast/southwest; the Wabash, running north/south. Today, the Wabash tracks are long gone, but the IC is now the CN and the C&EI is now the UP. Both remaining lines are active and the CN line even has two local/active customers that receive regular rail service. |
And none of the railroads had depots close to the downtown.

I'm going with the long rectangle over by the crossing because I think the bright white line between the building and the tracks is the platform. And because I think the smokestack in the background of the photo was on the west side of today's Booker Brothers Plumbing, Heating & Electrical LLC building.

I wonder what company built that building and what they made.

The two CN customers are west of town. Supplying farmers with fertilizer is one of them.

The grain elevator is tiny. So fertilizer supply is a lot bigger than grain storage in this town.
