There is a grain elevator out-of-frame to the left. It is no longer rail served.

In 1939, we can see the depot and water tower just north of the tracks and west of Main Street. On the south side of the tracks is a wood grain elevator.

The depot and water tower were still there in 1968, and the grain elevator has more buildings and some silos.

There are several more aerials available between 1968 and 1977, but the scale is over 100,000. This sample shows that those higher scales are problematic for spotting buildings. I think the depot is still here.

The railroad facilities were gone by 1977. And the grain elevator started changing to fewer buildings and bigger bins.
Earth Explorer: May 1, 1977 @ 40,000, AR1VEHI00010614 Dennis DeBruler commented on Roger's post But 1970 is well before the NS era of 1982, so I did some more research. I saw the depot and tower in a 1968 aerial, and I think I saw it in a 1971 aerial. (The resolution of the 1971 aerial wasn't good.) It is bothersome when I find an error of this magnitude on a topo map. But the tower and depot are definitely gone in this 1977 aerial. |
I knew that elevators charge for drying, but this is the first time I've seen the prices. So I saved them for reference.
