Berville, MI: Moved/Pere Marquette

Durand Union Station-Michigan Railroad History Museum posted
Today’s featured depot is the Pere Marquette station in Berville.
The Berville station was on the Pere Marquette’s Almont branch. This branch became operational in 1882. It would later start to be dismantled in 1942. The shift from horsepower to gasoline after World War I spelled the eventual end for service at the Berville depot and several other towns on the Almont line.
Very few remnants or memories of this line remain, but luckily, we are left with some visible sections of the roadbed, the Almont grain elevator, and the Berville Depot. The depot was relocated to Allenton on Capac Road and is now used as a private residence.

The plat surprised me because it looks like the depot was north of the tracks.

The 1928 map has the railroad, but it doesn't have Church Street.

The 1945 map has the street, but the railroad is now gone. But it does show some of the grading.
