(Satellite, the railroad was on the north side of town. I can't decide which rectangle in the aerial photo was the depot.)

In western Illinois.
Trenton Dominy: This long gone line was nicknamed the pumpkin vine line because it twisted and turned across a state highway 3 times because farmers didn’t want to move buildings and property lines it tied into the Burlington branch at Tampico until the early 50s

As the name implies, Hooppole was the end of the line. 1936/36 Prophetstown Quad @ 62,500

A view of the Depot of the Hooppole, Yorktown & Tampico Railroad at their home terminus of Hooppole, Illinois. The railroad only had a couple years to go at the time of this photo before being abandoned. Their connection to the outside world was with the CB&Q 14 miles to the north at Tampico. 1952

Sara Anderson Olson: No idea if it is in its original locale, but glad to see it still standing. And seemingly cared for!
Michael Bose: Sara Anderson Olson Really? The photo is from 74 years ago. It's very long gone.

It was such a BIG rr it didn't use mileposts - this was at the end of the line - here's a picture when it was a very booming railroad.
