Bill Edrington: This is the IC depot. It shares some architectural features with the preserved former Chicago & Alton/GM&O depot at Pekin, which makes sense, because both were built by the St. Louis, Peoria & Northern. The StLP&N went broke and was broken in two; the C&A acquired the portion north of Springfield and the IC acquired the portion south of Springfield in 1899.

Dale Forguson: The Litchfield and Madison granted trackage rights to it's line through Glen Carbon to IC I don't know if NKP had their own track in Glen Carbon I do know that the IC and NKP parted ways north of Glen Carbon.

Dale Forguson: Robert Fiedler Thanks for your comment. It led me to learn some information I hadn't known previously https://www.abandonedrails.com/saint-louis-peoria-and.... Based on the clothing of the subjects in the image it may have been taken prior to IC ownership if it was taken before 1900.

For what it's worth, the IC Glen Carbon "depot" in June 66

It looks like IC had cut back its depot before 1941! The depot looks rather small in this aerial.
