An IC company photographer took this photo of the IC's depot at LaSalle, IL, on June 10, 1915. The depot was in the process of being enlarged. The walls for the new addition appear to be about half completed. Meanwhile, part of the wall between the old and new parts of the depot has been taken down.
Despite the construction work, it appears the depot was still in daily use (note the baggage wagon in front of the depot).
IC photo, Cliff Downey collection.

I believe the red rectangle is where the depot was and the yellow rectangle was the freight house. The I&M Canal runs along the bottom. You can see the freight house in the background of Rick Burn's photo.

The stone engine house is easy to spot near the center of this photo. I presume the next building towards the foreground was the depot.

Christie Pasieka posted The image shows the Illinois Central LaSalle Yard in LaSalle, Illinois. It was photographed by Walker Evans in 1946. Additional details include: The Illinois Central Railroad was founded in 1851 and played a significant role in the development of Illinois. Bruce Liebe: Based on the locomotives depicted on the right that are entering the freight yard, I don't believe this photo was taken in the 1940s. That type of locomotive was acquired by the IC in the 1950s. Christie Pasieka: Bruce Liebe had do dig a little more found this ( I generally find all info I can on anything related to trains- I truly appreciate any info you give,, I then note with a file Thank You) A follow up shot to one of my previous postings...a going away view of a northbound freight on the IC's Amboy sub entering into the LaSalle, Illinois yard. The depot and the engine house can be seen up on the left. A couple hundred yards behind the camera is the bridge over the Illinois River. Date is 11/9/64.
