In 2014, SDI bought this facility from Severstal when they existed the North American market. Severstal had this plant for less than a decade. "The SDI Flat Roll Group Columbus Division is one of the newest and most advanced facilities of its kind in the world. Completed in 2007 at a cost of $980 million, the Columbus facility underwent a $555 million expansion in 2011 that doubled its size and increased production capacity to 3.4 million tons annually." TheDispatch In 2018, SDI invested $240m in the plant. This will add a third galvanizing line. They had added a paint line in 2017. "Higgins did not say how much the 45 planned jobs would pay, but he said if they’re comparable to what other employees at the plant make, they will likely be in excess of $100,000 per year." |
