Michael Maitland posted three photos with the comment: "While exploring older railroad lines in northern West Virginia came upon the town of Philippi.  They have a very unique car and pedestrian covered bridge.  Right next to the east side of the bridge is a renovated train station for the old Baltimore and Ohio railroad line from Grafton to the coal fields.  Next to the station is an old miners cabin.  Since the area floods, the miner built off the ground.  If heading that way its a nice stop."

John Voelker: I was on a training trip for the Chessie System Coal Department in 1983. We stopped at the Bridge in Philippi and the guy training me took my picture. I remember he told me that the first skirmish of the Civil War was fought there.

It has gotten to the point that any coal mine in the USA that is still producing is worth noting.
