I got this view after I learned that the museum is about Chief Sleepy Eye and I noticed that I had cropped his grave marker out of my original view.

I noticed the Rice Street sign. Did the old mill process rice instead of wheat?

I noticed in a satellite image that there are two spouts to a building on the south side. Taking a closer look, there are also small silos so that they can quickly load an 18-wheeler.

Greg Smith posted I'm always amazed at how much the photo editing programs can do. This photo by Ross had a terrible red tint to it. I got it cleaned up quite a bit from what it was. What a neat shot in Sleepy Eye MN. This was in his 1965 folder. Patrick Hansen shared Terry Davis: Both the depot and the original depot (later a freight house) in the background, are still there. The depot is an excellent local museum and the wooden freight house is an antique store. We visit both during the May 2022 Chicago & North Western Historical Society convention in Manakato. We also saw C&NW depot/museums at Westbrook, Currie and Tracy (actually Volga, S.D.’s depot). We also took pictures of the C&NW/DM&E/CP Rail depot still used by MOW at New Ulm. |
