I'm also glad that there are very few trees out west blocking the views.

Frank Keller Photography posted A couple of BN SD60M move coal empties west at New Salem, ND in the summer of 1994. Frank Keller Photography posted again A couple of BN SD60M lead a coal train east at New Salem ND. I really did like the SD60M, especially the BN units. Date forgotten. Thanks for the likes, comments and shares. Mike Bartels: We had a couple of green ones kicking around Lincoln, Neb., recently [Sep 2025]. |

Dennis DeBruler commented on Frank's post Thanks for the wood grain elevator in the background. You also caught that BN was servicing that elevator with a cut of hopper cars. That elevator is still standing: https://maps.app.goo.gl/9DSX1nhjqgme8hKx9 |
I think the western elevator is a feed mill. And/or they store various edible bean crops.

The railroad was the Northern Pacific. It is now the BNSF.

There are a couple of cuts of cars parked in the left background. This is more evidence that BNSF does provide rail service to the elevators.
