John Harker posted John Leopard, the photographer, must have been standing near the county highway V44 overpass at Luzerne, Iowa to catch this C&NW west bound train of empties on May 12th, 1993. Luzerne is a farming community on C&NW’s double main west of Cedar Rapids or just east of Belle Plaine. The hoppers in this train were being pulled by SD60 8037 and C40-8 8517. I scanned and edited this image from an original Kodak Kodachrome slide. John Harker collection |
