This yard evidently used to have two roundhouses. You can still see remnants of the pit wall foundations.

Martin Sheridan posted The only surviving Santa Fe Roundhouse in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Photo credit: unknown to me. Martin Sheridan shared Roger Eyrich shared John Newhagen: The structure was being used to house broken down grain trucks and other equipment last time I was up there a year or two ago, but the shell, reinforced concrete, is fully intact. My "tour guide," a guy working on his pickup, said it was for sale, but the owner wanted a nearby grain silo included. The nearby Harvey House has been restored and the ATSF station next to it is beautiful and functions as an Amtrak stop. I wonder if the roundhouse could be restored? Richard Mousner: I think it was being used as a lumberyard when I saw it |
