The center is the permanent home for the three steam locomotives that are owned by the City of Portland.

Southern Pacific Daylight #4449 sits majestically on the newly debuted Brooklyn turntable at the Oregon Rail Heritage Center in Portland, Oregon. It was a momentous day for the museum and the cumulation of years of planning and hard work as for the first time since leaving the old exSP/UP Brooklyn roundhouse just over 10 years ago, the ‘49 was given a spin. A huge shoutout goes to all the people from volunteers, contractors, those that donated time or money, and the many others involved with bringing ORHF’s vision to life. Certainly an incredible accomplishment and major milestone.

Back in 2015, they didn't even have the hole for the turntable.

The Lady, “The Northwest‘s Own Locomotive“ Spokane Portland & Seattle Railway #700 finally gets her turn on the Brooklyn turntable at the Oregon Rail Heritage Center. Though not yet fully finished with her 1472 rebuild, she still is as regal as ever.
