While reading the
comments about an ethanol plant, I learned BNSF serves a coal plant near Canton, IL. When I looked at the road map to see where the railroads were, I noticed that there were a lot of long, narrow "lakes" in this area. That is the signature of strip coal mining. But the big loop of track north of the plant indicates that coal is now brought in with long unit trains. Probably low-sulfur coal from Wyoming.
