Ardi Carl posted Bedford depot.
Current: (Satellite)
CTH&SE = Chicago, Terre Haute & Southeastern
Since there are plans to move it, I decided to grab an image while it is still in its original location.
2017: Rick L Whitehead posted three photos with the comment: "Milwaukee Depot in Bedford Indiana.
This station was moved 300 yds to the south of its orginal location and was built in 1899. Now it is a tourist and information center here in town. The move was amazing to watch!!!"
Rick L Whitehead 3 years later [2020] it still sits on its new lot,Empty!

I need to go see these 2 in Bedford. Milwaukee and B&O.
Dennis DeBruler B&O? I thought the other one was Monon.

I saved the satellite image because this is evidently the old location. Why would they have to get a depot off of an abandoned railroad?
See also the L&N/Monon Depot.
You can still see tracks by the depot on the satellite image. But Bedford no longer has any railroad service. Bedford used to be on Monon's mainline between Chicago and Louisville,
I wonder how the limestone industry in the area is doing because my experience is that the the roads in this area would make trucking a pain.
Update: Indiana Rail Road still goes to Crane, IN. Probably because the US Navy says you better still come here.

Matthew Ditton posted A Milwaukee Road train heads west through Bedford past the depot and is being led by a GP20. I've never been to Bedford but it looks like the depot had been relocated at some point along J Street and the grain elevator was still standing at least as of 2023. This is an undated slide from my collection taken by Mike Schafer.

Eric Berg posted Anybody know what the building directly west of the Bedford depot was used for? Date and photographer on this photo unknown. Steven Stafford Boiler House Robert Day That building was still standing into the 70s Kenneth Jackson Station was heated with hot water from a boiler like many houses used to be. Because of the size of the boiler needed to heat a building as large as Bedford station it was housed in a separate building. Not an unusual set up for the time.

Note the depot in the left background of this photo. Bill Raines commented on a post: "That station now moved downtown on old CSX track."
