David Sebben posted This undated photo, looking east, shows the C.B. & Q. Railroad's Ottumwa, Iowa roundhouse and yards. |
The land scar of the roundhouse still exists. (Feb 2025 update: I'm glad I saved the image because when I accessed the link in Feb 2025 they foundation had been cleaned up and a building put on the land.)

Bill Greenley posted Milwaukee Road roundhouse at Ottumwa, Iowa. The original post said this was from 1979, but I hired out in 71 and don't remember this many stalls left standing. Deb Renner collection. |

Terry B. Carlson commented on Bill's post 2016 Google Earth Image is the best shot showing the remains. |

Bill Greenley posted Milwaukee Road Ottumwa, Iowa roundhouse interior. I think circa 1980 or so. I have no photo credit. |
Update:
John Harker posted three images with the comment: "Some of you may know the location. The track curving around in the foreground is the Milwaukee crossing the CB&Q at Lawler Tower in Ottumwa, Iowa. A little further back the Milw crossed the Rock Island and you should be able to see the Milw interchange track with the RI. The attached 1930s IAGMS (Iowa Geographic map Server) aerial view faintly shows the tower pinpointed with the red arrow. The orange arrow pinpoints the Milwaukee depot. The 1950s IAGMS aerial shows the tower was gone and I don’t know when it was removed. John Harker collection"
John Harker posted again with the same comment.

Michael Emerson Avitt posted Union Depot, Ottumwa, Iowa.
William Lloyd: Very impressive how many railroads shared this? Michael Emerson Avitt: William Lloyd My guess would be CB&Q, Wabash, Rock Island, and Milwaukee Road. [Looking at a topo map, I don't think Milwaukee used this depot.] |
I wonder when the depot was replaced.
