I don't normally do the suburban depots, but this one has been preserved as the Brookfield Historical Society.
This appears to be the downtown depot.

Here is the quaint little station that once stood at Brookfield, Illinois, along the CB&Q west of Chicago. This is on the triple track raceway that cuts through the western suburbs. I noticed recently that a new brick station sits on this spot—does anyone know if this older station was saved?

William Shapotkin posted with the same comment.Here are three pix of the "old" Hollywood [now Zoo Stop] suburban station in Brookfield, IL on the BN (CB&Q). According to the info supplied in the original posting, the depot burned in 1983. Another person stated that he "believe(d) (the depot) was torn down in 1976 or 1977."
Might anyone be able to shed some light on the demise of this building? (Which was very similar in appearance to the nearby Brookfield depot -- which has been preserved.)

Charlie Vlk: East Grossdale (Hollywood) and West Grossdale (Congress Park) were slightly similar, both being wood frame structures, but quite unlike Grossdale (Brookfield) which was a brick building with rich architectural detailing. My interest in the depot was sparked by a photo displayed in the window of Rezney (sp??) Real Estate on Prairie Avenue which depicted the building as built.
Tom Skowronski: Unless the Brookfield brick depot was replaced by the preserved frame one, something doesn't make sense. Or am I dreaming?

| Dennis DeBruler commented on Tom's comment Are you confusing Brookfield (downtown) with Hollywood (today's Zoo Stop)? Note that William is talking about Hollywood. I've read that today's Brookfield Historical Society was the former Brookfield depot. |
