If you are here because of "Stubenville, IN: Junction Tower: IN/Wabash vs IN/NYC/LS&MS/FWJ&S," then you need to go there where steubenville is spelled correctly.
(Satellite, an educated guess based on the topo map and the photos.)
Daniel Adair posted two photos with the comment: "Here are pictures I took of Rockville tower, at Mingo Jct., Ohio. As I recall, this is where after PC/Conrail decided to route trains off the Panhandle and up though Wellsville to Conway, discontinuing the “thru route” through Weirton. Again, as I recall, this tower protected the PRR and the W&LE lines also. I assume it was built by the PRR, and the high line is the route to Conway. Correct me if I’m wrong, it was a long time ago."

2 Don Lee: The track on the left was the WLE/NKP/NW Steubenville Branch. The second track was the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Mingo to Steubenville Intermill track. The two on the right were PRR/PC branch along the Ohio River. W-P hot metal runs always got priority. NW tried to avoid the place. They would sit for hours trying to get across. |
The W&LE went along the river and the Pennsy went west of the Wheeling-Pittsburgh steel plant.
