This junction is now part of the Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad.

Brian Thompson commented on Tim's post Here's a shot from April 15, 2023. My first time visiting it (and the distillery just down the sideroad).
"Former junction point for the Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway, where the mainline split into the Buffalo and Rochester Branches. The junction was controlled by a still-standing but deactivated BR&P tower on the Southwest corner of the junction. Though the Buffalo Branch is no longer active, a small stub siding on the former right-of-way still exists off the Rochester mainline." [wikimapia]

Tim Baldwin posted Buffalo bound B&O freight at Ashford Junction -early 1980s
A 1950 topo map indicates that both routes were owned by B&O.
"This is the Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad (owned by Genesee and Wyoming), nee CSX, Chessie System, B&O and originally the Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh railroad. The junction is where two lines, one from Buffalo and one from Rochester converged into a single line heading south, eventually reaching Pittsburgh. Parts of both lines north of the junction are abandoned - the Buffalo line south of Orchard Park, NY, and the Rochester line between Silver Springs and Machias. The B&P now uses the ex-Pennsy Buffalo line (owned by NS) from Buffalo to Machias junction, where it then diverges onto the remaining segment of the old Rochester branch, past Ashford tower and continues south. A stub of the Buffalo branch remains in service from Ashford Junction north to West Valley." [TrainOrders]

| 1 of 4 photos posted by Coastie with a Camera Photography With an SW1500 and GP9 providing the power, B&P's SARE job made another run to Machias and West Valley. Between the afternoon departure from Salamanca and the haze covering the area on the warm and sunny afternoon, yesterday's chase brought forward some interesting lighting and shot opportunities. An original B&O route map shows that Ashford Junction was at the bottom of the "V" going to West Valley and Machias.

Stan Carlson posted Dad worked a a couple of these towers in B&O days. Four of the five are still standing, but in rough shape.
Joseph Rennie posted two photos with the comment: "From Saturday Ashford Junction."

Mike Stellpflug posted The end was fast approaching for the 4th Sub of the old BR&P under the Chessie (CSX) banner. The GNWR subsidiary RSR would assume operations of the line from Rochester to Ashford Jct. on 7/21/1986. I made every possible effort to get trackside and photograph the daily train on the line. At that time the "schedule" was one train a day. RS-97 would run South, and the crew would return the next day on SR-94. The call times were usually early morning so the train ran the entire line in daylight. On July 8, 1986 I drove South along the line until I intercepted the Northbound SR-94 just leaving Salamanca, NY. Chessie 4157 leads SR-94 at Ashford Jct., NY. The train is making a pickup off the siding. Andy Benfer: Did the Sea Land stacks stop running on the line during the end as well? That’s wild that only one train ran I day on the line during Chessie/csx ownership. It’s hard to finding photos of B&O let alone Chessie on the line so this is amazing to see! Mike Stellpflug shared Stan Carlson: Great shot Mike! Standing where the station platform once was located. Raymond Shields: I remember coming down the line to the right from Buffalo with steam engine MLW 261 on our way to Chicago from Scranton. The Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway Company shared Another great photo from Mike Stellpflug. He caught the action on the former BR&P in the mid to late 1980’s so well.
B&O Depot
This post implies that the depot is extant, but I was not able to find it.

The Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway Company posted So, I’m getting the feeling that the Ellicottville depot is not long for the world. I can’t elaborate, but the property has supposedly been sold and they’re going to auction all of the interior items. Edited, it seems that Imight have been a victim of an early April Fools post for an Ellicottville newspaper! I think we’re safe for now! 🙂
