Coal Valley, IL: Pryce Coal Mine and Lost/Rock Island Depot

The name Pryce was associated with a few mines in this area. But Index 3331 is dominated by Pryce and it is the only one with a date range that is consistent with 1917.

I could not find any traces of a railroad for this mine on topo maps. By the late 1930s, evidence of the mine was gone.

The railroad appeared in a 1937 topo map, but it was missing in a 1949 map.

The rectangle a little west of the depot was probably a grain elevator because its shadow indicates that it was a tall building.
