Great Valley, NY: Lost/BR&P Depot

(Satellite)

The Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway Company posted two photos with the comment: "Photos of Great Valley station are pretty rare. We have a few including these two photos. The first shows the station in B&O days looking north, probably in the 1940’s, and the second shows the station peeking out from behind the buildings in the distance, center left, also in the 1940’s."

I have this view in my collection

The Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway Company updated
Great Valley station looking south in the 1920’s. This was located at the foot of Depot St. a sidewalk that went to the station still remains but the station was torn down in the early 1950’s.

Since Photo 1 above shows that the depot was east of, and parallel to, the tracks, it is probably the diagonal square on this topo that is north of Mutton Hollow Road.

I got an aerial photo to confirm the location. This was the oldest, and best resolution, available. It appears the depot was gone by 1956.
