Stan L. Maddox replied to Robert's question Robert Sullivan to answer your question, I created a map extract by splicing together portions of images 11 and 19 of the August 1914 Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps of Jacksonville IL, and added a blue arrow indicating the approximate location of the photographer and the direction they were facing. Please note that Sanborn maps typically do not include streetcar tracks, like the ones clearly visible in the photo running left to right. The map extract includes the Jacksonville Street Railway Car Barn for context, just out of the photo frame to the right (West) in the photo. https://www.loc.gov/resource/g4104jm.g019391914/?st=gallery

Andy Zukowski posted Gulf Mobile & Ohio Depot in Jacksonville, Illinois. 1976 Erik Spoonmore: GM&O tracks in the foreground and the CB&Q tracks in the back. This view is looking northwest. Joe Standley: Hey there everyone! It’s so cool seeing these photos and memories! I’m the chef and owner of Proud Richard's. We’re a newer restaurant (2 years old) that occupies the station now! We’re open Wednesday through Saturday. But if anyone would like a tour, give us a call and we can try to set something up! Richard Fiedler shared

Andy Zukowski posted GM&O RS3, Jacksonville, Illinois This photo, taken 3/9/73, when the Illinois Central Gulf was already seven months old but it still looked pretty GM&O-ish in Jacksonville. This southbound local is seen stopped at the depot to pick up orders before proceeding on to Roodhouse. After the ICG abandoned this line around 1980 the depot fell into a state of disrepair but was later saved and restored. I believe it still survives as an Italian restaurant. Just out of view to the left is the Burlington Northern's Beardstown sub that dropped south out of Galesburg and went to southern Illinois. The BN and GM&O crossed at a diamond about two or three blocks south of where this shot was taken. Photo from the Barry Lennon Collection Richard Fiedler posted Stephen N. Brannon: Action in the grand manner on the “Jack Line.” Sam Anthony: I worked the wabash, tower in Jacksonville. But not this one.
