Patterson Creek, WV: B&O Junction (FN) Tower: Mainline vs. Patterson Creek Cutoff

(Satellite)

The other end of the Patterson Creek Cutoff was the CO Tower.

This tower replaced the former AD Tower.

It's funny the Potomac river didn't take the tower out. Old "FN" tower had an electric interlocking...

The new "FN" was put in service it Controlled. "CO" "FN"
"GI" "NO" and "AD" interlockings

The Patterson Creek Cutoff was built so that coal trains did not have to go through Chumberland, MD, which had become a choke point because of congestion.
