Steven Hooker posted The Depot in Midland South Dakota survives and it is being used as a museum. Tracks remain in service as part of the The Rapid City Pierre and Eastern Railroad. |

Not only does it have an old fashioned wood grain elevator, it has a wood extension.

An advantage of regional railroads is that they don't insist that a grain elevator can load a unit train in a short amount of time. That is, they are willing to leave a cut of hoppers at the elevator.
