McLeansboro, IL: Lost/L&N Depot

(Satellite, the Evansville Western Railway has replaced the depot with a utilitarian building.)

David Cantrell: Thanks for posting this photo Andrew Andrew Waldo. First picture I've seen of the freight depot. This was located south of the electric plant along the Shawneetown branch of the L&N. The second passenger depot was located in this vicinity. There were a total of 4 different L&N passenger depots in McLeansboro.

All three "spokes" were L&N. Looking at a satellite map, the route south of the wye has been abandoned.

The 1937-47 aerial photos were not good. Fortunately, Illinois now has additional photos. In addition to the depot near the top, I included a\ grain elevator near the bottom.
