This topo map is correct showing that the cutoff that goes southeast at Louisville leaves the mainline west of Beck Avenue. It is incorrect because the cutoff goes along the north side of the mainline instead of the southside. The reason the branch followed the mainline so far to the west is so that the same tower could also control entry into the east end of railyard.

I got an aerial to confirm the branch went along the south side of the mainline to Louisville. The intersection of Tulane Avenue and Kathryn Street is a little bit above the middle on the left side.

I got another confirmation that the branch was on the south side because topo maps normally don't make mistakes of this magnitude.
