Columbus, OH: East Columbus (NY) Tower: (B&O+Pennsy) vs. NYC/TOC

(Satellite)

TOC = Toledo & Ohio Central

I used "B&O+Pennsy" notation in the title because this mainline was jointly owned by B&O and Pennsy. B&O was the original owner, and B&O built and staffed the interlocking towers.  [ColumbusRailroads_pom] According to a USGS map, Columbus & Ohio River is the current owner.

Darren Reynolds posted four photos with the comment: "B&O/PRR    'NY' tower (East Columbus) Columbus, Ohio"

"East Columbus interlocking Tower located 4.7 miles from Columbus Union Station on the PRR-B&O Columbus and  Newark Division.  The camera is looking east toward Summit.  Stelzer Road  is over head.  The NYC (T&OC) is crossing the three track PRR/B&O Main line.  The T&OC line is coming from Truro to the south.  It served several customers north of the  crossing including the Ralston Steel Car Co. and ends just west of Woodland Ave.  Photo by John Fuller from the Collection of John Fuller."

John Riddle: My first day on the railroad was spent at East Columbus. By that time, 1979, the NYC (former T&OC) crossing was gone. The main tracks were C&N Division were joint B&O and PRR. Tbe highway beidge carried James Rd over tbe railroad.
