Illinois is the only state in which I have seen rectangular grain elevators. Round silos do not have the issue of a lot of stress in the corners.
Kevin Pearson
posted two photos with the comment: "Saw this today in Edwards along the railroad tracks. Anyone know anything about it?"
Bob Bundren: Old grain elevator now privately owned.
David Jordan: It is a private residence, or at least it was. The elevator probably hasn't operated in many years. The elevator siding on the south side of the main track was removed c. 1986.

The USGS map did not find this town. I had to access Pottstown and then follow the railroad to here. The label on this map should be CB&Q instead of CB&W.

Edwards was a station stop on the CB&Q.
