It always begins with fire fighting equipment from Downers and some nearby suburbs.
Too bad I can't recreate the symphony of sirens. The parade gives the villages a chance to show off the equipment they have in addition to pumpers.
The regular part of the parade starts with a color guard.
And quite a few students from the local High School marching bands showed up. The blue shirts would be from Downers Grove South and the purple shirts are from Downers Grove North.
The dog is a 5-year vet from Afghanistan. IT was a bomb-sniffing dog that would lay down in front of IEDs.
Next were some antique cars and tractors.
You could tell it was an election year because there were quite a few political campaigns represented. I'm omitting them. There were Boy Scouts as far as you could see.
Girl Scouts.
The bag pipe band would have done several parades that day because the western suburbs schedule their parades at different hours so that organizations could do a circuit of parades.
Several church organizations were represented.
And sports, dance, and martial arts teams.
And some color gaurds.
Great pictures! Makes me feel like I was there after all. =-)
