Mazon, IL: Wood Grain Elevator and Derails

Westbound BNSF intermodal as it passes the grain elevator in Mazon IL.

Tracks to the elevator still exist. Looking at a satellite map, the siding by the elevator used to go all the way through town to around Joann Street.

Even though they are no longer connected to the mainline.

Since the derails are now useless, it struck me as strange that BNSF hasn't removed them so that they could be used somewhere else.
