Mazon, IL: BNSF/Santa Fe Depot

(Satellite, Street View)

See Junction Tower for several more photos of the tower building.
A few blocks west of here is a wood grain elevator.

Bill Molony posted two photos with the comment:
The first photograph, from the 1920's, is of the Santa Fe's depot and interlocking tower at Mazon, where the tracks of the Santa Fe were crossed by those of the Kankakee & Seneca.
The second photograph, from 1980, is of the Santa Fe depot at Mazon.
My understanding is that after the K&S was abandoned in the 1930's, the Santa Fe tore down their tower at Mazon and left their depot in place.
I have to assume that the Santa Fe depot that was still standing at Mazon in 1980 was a portion of the original depot shown in the first photograph. .

By the parts lying next to it, it is obvious that the BNSF signaling department now uses this building.

I don't remember where these photos came from.
