NC&StL = Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis
I'm capturing a satellite image of the yard because CSX now plans to close Tilford.
Because of the proximity of the yards, the notes on the NS/Southern Inman Yard has topo maps of this yard.

Tim Pinson posted Being a locomotive engineer and freight conductor myself and growing up building model railroads, I have seen hundreds of paths, right aways, old rail yards and dingy old buildings. The past of this nations once great network of rails and ties fascinates me beyond belief. I'm from upstate Ny and work the once great Chicago and Hudson line. Have taken many of my own "now" pictures and have compared to "before" photos I've seen online. I could care less about trains in today's world being they're nothing but a pay check to me but the trains of yester year and the empires they once were peak all my interest. I won't say who I work for but a solid guess wouldn't steer you wrong. Once I dig into my old lap top I'll share my collection of old school and abandoned I've built over the years. Within the last year, hundreds of facilities, tracks and railyards are now vacant and have no future plans but to be part of history. All about the stock price... |

Chris Nicholson Jr. posted Norfolk Southern Inman Yard & CSX Tilford Yard in Atlanta Ga. I heard the CSX yard has since closed... Noe Gutierrez Yes indeed, Tilford was closed. It is now a huge barren patch of ground. Chris Nicholson Jr. Noe Gutierrez next time I'm down ill have to take an updated pic. |
D Lewis Pharr commented on a post D Lewis Pharr: This is the former Tillford yard Atlanta. |
(new window) Just the first part of the video is about Tilford. A Facebook comment specified which yard in Atlanta is supposed to replace Tilford and that is why I saved the post. But Facebook didn't save the comments. I watched this railfan video because he includes context in addition to trains.
Justin Grostefon posted three photos with the comment: "EHH legacy in effect at CSX's Tilford yard in Atlanta, GA."

Bob Freitag posted two photos with the comment: "The remains of CSX's Tilford Yard in west midtown Atlanta. The 300-acre property was sold by CSX for redevelopment. The hump yard, built in 1957, handled 40-trains day serving the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway, Loiisville and Nashville (Atlantic Coast Line)."
Bob Freitag A new flyover video posted this month by CSX’s real estate advisor shows exactly what’s on the table.
The video provides a sense of the potential of the nearly 300-acre site, which sits west of Marietta Boulevard and shoots north toward Cobb County. But it lends few—if any—clues about what it could possibly become.https://youtu.be/Cm-AoxcdrEA
