While trying to get a better view of the locomotive, I noticed thatthey sell animal feed. But I think it is retail (packaged) feed. Their website talks about show animals. They have a couple of buildings that probably stock packaged feed. I found no evidence that they can grind feed here. In fact, the only service listed for this location is grain.

The railroad was the Wheeling & Lake Erie (W&LE), and it is now the Wheeling & Lake Erie (WE). (The shortline WE reused the railroad name, but the area covered is different.)

This elevator is on the route between Norwalk and Wellington on this map.

Since WE is a shortline, the two conveyors across the tracks that we see in the top view are not over a Class I railroad. I think this elevator can handle a unit train because it has a yard and its own locomotive

Big Four Depot

Bill Edrington: It was moved a few blocks at some point to a lot on Merritt Court between High and Pearl Streets, where it became a private home. Until today I had no idea it still existed. But it‘s unmistakably a Big Four depot.

I see that CGB has a couple of big grain piles. 

Satellite

This confirms that the railroad along the river was the Big Four's Cairo or Egypt line. But that railroad was abandoned a while ago. So how do the trains get to the elevators? This map shows that there was a shortline that provided access to the Illinois Central. And a satellite image shows that that route is still intact to the CN route.

I could not find the Big Four Depot. But I noticed that CGB evidently tore down some houses to build their elevator. Although, looking at a satellite map, this town has lost a lot of houses.

Old Gas Station

While checking out the nearby Mounds, IL, to confirm that they still have some stores or residents in Mound City, I found this old gas station. This is on the original US-51 route.

The diamond above the garage door reminded me of Sunoco. But that doesn't fit. So I don't know what brand this station pumped.

Power, MT: Wood Grain Elevators and Annexes

(Satellite, it appears the single elevator has been torn down.)

Once again, an old grain elevator siding is retained because it makes a parking spot for Maintenance-of-Way equipment that is working in the area.

According to a topo map, Great Northern used to own the tracks. BNSF has retained ownership of these tracks.

Duluth, MN: BNSF/NP Bridge Yard & Roundhouses and Elevator G on Rice's Point

There are many roundhouse images "hidden" in photographs that aren't labeled as such. I was browsing all photos of Duluth hoping to get a glimpse of the original roundhouse built in 1870 and came across this photo from the 1890s. It is part of a panorama of Rice's Point and surrounding waterfront. The photo did not have any railroad related tags, so searching by "roundhouse," "engine house," etc. would have missed it completely. In the right background is the original roundhouse built by the Lake Superior and Mississippi, later taken over by the Northern Pacific. It lasted until the early 1900s when the NP built a much larger roundhouse next door. (Minnesota State Library)

At top right, the original 1870 roundhouse is facing the camera while the 8-stall addition is on the left side, to the left of the church steeple. After this photo was taken, the original stalls were rebuilt to resemble the newer stalls.
