To my surprise, the NYS&W still owns this route.

Preble, IN: Wood Feed Mill

(Satellite)

Note the three transformers on the pole. If an electric motor is over 5hp, it needs 3-phase power.
Street View, Jul 2024

Matthew Ditton posted
The Erie Lackawanna used to pass through the tiny town of Preble Indiana and after they were absorbed into Conrail, the Erie Western operated the line for a couple of years before folding. In the before shot, Joe DeMike caught a westbound Erie Western train going by the grain elevator in Preble and while there's no date on it, I'm guessing it's in the Summer of 1978 because the lead unit still looks fairly clean. I took the current shot on 8/8/2021, approximately 40 years after the tracks were removed but the old grain elevator still stands. You can't see it in this shot but there is still one telegraph pole standing in the trees but everything else having to do with the railroad is gone.
Nathan Garner: Hey cool post! My family runs the Preble Feed Mill. Love seeing old photos of the place!

The feed mill is extant.

High Street in the above historical photo has been renamed Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. And it still has stairs to the platform.

Edward Thornton posted seven photos with the comment: "July 1982 - I will need help with this post.  Sorry to say, I did not keep good notes.  I have these slides listed as "Newark Station".  Obviously, this is not Amtrak's Newark Station.  My only clue is the DL&W cast on the wall.  Will have to find my way on Google Maps. -- Anyhow, enjoy these few slides and, as always, leave comments and corrections.  UPDATE:  Broad Street Station - last stop before Hoboken."

Dunmore, PA: Lost/Erie Car Shop

(Satellite, none of this existed in 1946 so I can't get a precise location.)

Not only was the car shop abandoned in 1955 when damaged by a flood, it was at the end of an Erie branch that has since been abandoned. "The present shop is at the far end of a branch line sixty miles from the Erie's New York-Chicago main line." [nytimes]

The commuter service in the NYC metro area looks complicated. I accessed the link on Google Maps, https://dv.njtransit.com/mobile/tid-mobile.aspx?SID=MA, to learn more. But I got a "500- Internal server error" in response. I hope NJT maintains their trains better than their website.
