Lamy NM Station formerly along the AT&SF RR now a stop on Amtrak's SW Chief.
David George: Passed by this station a dozen years ago while on the Chief and made a mental note to visit it if I was ever in N.M. Last year I was and I did. I was able to photograph the station inside and out. They have since altered the interior a bit so I'm glad I got the photos when I did. Very few people get on or off in Lamy but the Chief stops every day.

They have some old box cars for storage.

Macksville, KS: Wood Grain Elevator and Flour Mill

Wood: (Satellite)

I wonder what the concrete building used to be.
Street View, Sep 2025

This is on the other side of the road. Its call The Stfford County Flour Mills., but it looks like a normal storage elevator rather than a flour mill.

Is this an antique car museum or just a painted building? I got an angle view to catch the Packard sign.

Evidently this building was restored as an ice cream shop in time for the 100th year anniversary of Route 66 (2026). After all, every tourist town needs ice cream. I wonder if Kingman also has a fudge shop.

Kingman, AZ September 17, 2026--We arrived in Kingman just in time to take a quick tour through the museum before it closed. It had a good exhibit, so glad we could see it. We ate at Mr. D'z Route 66 Diner, a fun place with good food. A highlight for me was having my cousin from Kingman join us for supper. I hadn't seen her in years. We spent the night at the Arizona Inn.
[I think most of her photos are inside this museum.]

Barbwire was important for the taming of the west. If I remember correctly, each way of twisting the wire was probably a patent.

We got some crazy rain from #Hurricane Rachel last night. Many business closed today...
No #thrifting for me today..

Is this Hurricane Rachel, and/or the other storms I've seen this season, dumping some of its rain in the Colorado River upstream of Lake Mead?
If they are, the water has yet to reach Lake Mead. (Full pool is 1,229.)

Judging from the photos on Google Maps, the contents of the Martin and Osa Johnson Safari Museum are artifacts that were picked up by safaris to Africa. An example:

The building also houses the public library. It was Santa Fe's fifth depot in Chanute. [travelks]

Once a great roundhouse, now a hole with some bricks. The turntable pit at Chanute, KS is all that's left of a once grand structure in 2015.
