Note the three transformers on the pole. If an electric motor is over 5hp, it needs 3-phase power.

| Matthew Ditton posted The Erie Lackawanna used to pass through the tiny town of Preble Indiana and after they were absorbed into Conrail, the Erie Western operated the line for a couple of years before folding. In the before shot, Joe DeMike caught a westbound Erie Western train going by the grain elevator in Preble and while there's no date on it, I'm guessing it's in the Summer of 1978 because the lead unit still looks fairly clean. I took the current shot on 8/8/2021, approximately 40 years after the tracks were removed but the old grain elevator still stands. You can't see it in this shot but there is still one telegraph pole standing in the trees but everything else having to do with the railroad is gone. Nathan Garner: Hey cool post!
