The south part is a wet mill that was built in the early 1900s, which they acquired in 1982. "The mill is part of a corn processing complex that produces a wide range of products, including corn sweeteners and starches, beverage alcohol, corn oil, enzymes, ethanol, animal feed and other food ingredients." They are going invest $196 million to modernize the plant. [QCtimes]

David Jordan BNSF, Canadian Pacific and Union Pacific serve this plant.
Lukas IronsGroup Admin Rail shipments aplenty...Where does BNSF come into Clinton from?
David Jordan Lukas Irons BNSF has trackage rights and access to all customers on Canadian Pacific's former Davenport, Rock Island & Northwestern ("Dri Line") between the Crescent Bridge in Davenport and Clinton

The north part is a plant that manufactures Mirel biodegradable plastic.

Dennis DeBruler I'm glad to hear that biodegradable plastic is becoming real. I also like that it uses corn syrup. That should help keep the corn syrup plants working as people learn to quit drinking soda pop.

The ADM Facility in Clinton is one of the largest corn wet mills in the world, processing over 350,000 bushels of corn per day.
The “Golden Dome” at the plant is a landmark in Clinton. ADM chose a dome for its coal cogeneration plant in Clinton, Iowa to control dust and maintain coal quality. The coal is protected from the elements using a single dome storage structure rather than multiple silos.

The problem with machine generated posts is that Viral Media didn't use a photo of what it described. According to a Google Maps label, it is a cogeneration plant. In this case, I think that means that some of the steam is used to help process the corn.

CB&Q used to have a branch that went to the UP/C&NW bridge. BNSF still has access to this plant. David Jordan commented on a post in a private group: "BNSF has trackage rights and access to all customers on Canadian Pacific's former Davenport, Rock Island & Northwestern ("Dri Line") between the Crescent Bridge in Davenport and Clinton."
