Darren Ferreter posted fourteen photos from 1984ish.
Roger Puta has a photo that includes the tower. Roger's photos are in the public domain (an acknowledgement is requested), but the copy I found is blocked by a TrainOrders login.
The red rectangle is my guess as to where the tower stood.

This photo reinforces my guess.
John Stell posted BN Main line looking south from Galesburg depot. Seminary Street tower in background. John Stell slide in March 1976. |
Update:
Thomas Dyrek posted A northbound Burlington Northern train led by Southern Pacific No. 8294 passing Seminary Street Tower in Galesburg on an unknown date. John and Roger Kujawa photo, Thomas Dyrek collection. [Note the coaling tower in the background.] David Jordan: I'd say this pre-dates BN's 1983-1986 reconstruction of the Galesburg Yard. Jon Roma: Seminary St. Tower and the old depot still stood in 1982. I don't remember when they disappeared, but it was not too many years after that. [A comment identified the locomotive as delivered in July 1980.] |
