New Albany, IN: Tower VI: CSX/B&O vs CSX+CP/Monon -> KIT

Satellite plus Paint
This junction is where the Monon and the B&O terminated by joining the Kentucky & Indiana Terminal Railroad. KIT was jointly owned by Southern, B&O, and Monon. KIT not only owned the bridge that allowed these railroads to cross the Ohio River, it owned tracks in Louisville that connected to other railroads. It also had yards and serviced businesses in Louisville.

According to the 2005 SPV Map, CSX still owned the B&O route. But satellite images show it has been abandoned. They have yet to salvage the steel from a bridge along the abandoned route.

I'm always a sucker for Depots. This was originally the Ohio and Mississippi Railroad Depot in New Albany Indiana. It was finished in Jan 1888. The line eventually merged with B&O in 1893. The depot fell into disrepair and it was purchased for a $1 for preservation. Less than a month after purchase, some one decided to arson it on April 1981. It was the last standing RR depot in New Albany Indiana. What a loss. It was built into a pie shape lot between Vincennes St. & Stone St.
[It appears the depot was northwest of the red line in the "Satellite plus Paint" image.]

This is located at the approach of the Kentucky & Indiana Bridge
Chad Quick tells us it was staffed by operators of the K&I Railroad.
