Durand Union Station-Michigan Railroad History Museum posted two photos with the comment:
Today's featured depot is the GR&I depot at Mancelona 🚂
Mancelona, located about 12 miles east of the eastern edge of Torch Lake, was established about 1869. In 1872, the Grand Rapids and Indiana Railroad was extended through the area. Shortly after the GR&I built a depot in Mancelona - it was a station stop on their line from Mackinaw City to Grand Rapids.
Mancelona was a crossing of the GR&I and the Mancelona & North-Western Railroad. The Mancelona & North-Western was likely a private logging railroad. According to one record, the railroad was established in 1892 and dissolved around 1901.
The depot still exists and is now a fully renovated retreat/vacation rental.
