A reminder of one of the economic generators in several smaller towns in Illinois, former home of the International Shoe Co., in Olney. International Shoe as well as Brown Shoe had plants throughout the state. The building in Olney still bears the name. Companies such as this, located in smaller towns were the lifeblood of many of these communities, their loss a major blow..
