The Elgin, Joliet & Eastern depot at Plainfield - March 27th, 1976.
The EJ&E had passenger trains that stopped in Plainfield when this built, so it did have a passenger waiting room.
Matthew Linhart It's still there, now a Museum i believe.
Michael Riha Matthew Linhart It was moved from its original location on the east side of Plainfield to just west of the DuPage River on Lockport Street at Van Dyke Road along the Canadian National's former EJ&E River Line.

It must have been built after 1939.

Mark Llanuza's comment on a posting indicates this depot has been moved since 1990: "Today the station has been moved and saved in closer to downtown near the EJ&E River line."

It is now part of a little EJ&E museum. The building was closed when I visited.

I went down to the railroad crossing to get a picture with the RoW included.
Even though it was in the afternoon shade, I took a picture of the side with the bay window for the agent's desk.
The three signs they had made.

As IC SD70s are becoming an increasingly rare breed around here, I figured it was due time to get this shot before they’re gone.
IC 1038 leads IC 1003 on train L509. This is the Route 126 crossing on the CN Illinois River Line with the historic EJ&E depot in the background. 7/8/19.
