Dennis P. Bush Almost the same spot but earlier in time. The switch stand is still a kerosene lamp.
I know where the stand is today.

This is another town in Illinois where the grain elevator is is bigger than the town.

This is another town in Illinois where the grain elevator may have more bins than there are houses in the town. The abandoned railroad was the Illinois, Iowa & Minnesota, and then the Chicago, Milwaukee & Gary and then the Milwaukee Road.

  1. Thanks for posting! I live in will County and have never heard of Andres, Il until I noticed someone on my Ancestry was born there! Very good to keep learning the history of Will County !

  2. We always drive thru Andres going south on Rt. 45 from Frankfort. I always wondered about the history of such a small town. Thanks for posting this!
