P&E = Peoria & Eastern
The Peoria & Eastern became part of the Big Four, which in turn became part of NYC. The P&E was the east-west route and the north-south Big Four route was the
Egyptian route. According to the 2005 SPV Map, the P&E route is now NS and the Egyptian route is now CSX; but according to a USGS map, both routes are now CSX. These two routes shared a segment in Danville along which was a depot, freight house and small railyard. Wyton tower was where the two routes joined on the southwest side and the depot is where they joined on the northeast end of the segment.

On this topo, you can see the rectangle for the depot in the northwest quadrant of Vermillion Street and the tracks. 1950 Danville NW Quadrangle @ 1:24,000 |
From left to right, the red rectangle highlights the tower, blue is the freight house and yellow is the depot.
