The current Rock Island Trail follows the Rock up to the crossing, then uses a tiny part of the CB&Q to reach the depot. The second building from the right at the top. The Rock depot is the top left building. The original post picture is looking south from the road at the top of mine.

James' comment explains why the Rock Island State Trail terminates on the CB&Q right-of-way. https://maps.app.goo.gl/keXGZ5cb4H6m85o79

The railroad that went diagonally through town was the Rock Island.

James aerial is a lot better than the one ILHAP has. I wonder where he got his copy.

The town also still has the old grain elevator that is north of the CB&Q depot.

Ryan & Harty Elevator, Wyoming, IL, 1898.
Built in 1895. No contractor mentioned. 45,000-bushel capacity. By 1899 a single long crib existed on the property increasing the capacity of the complex by 20,000-bushels for a total bushel-capacity of 65,000.
Today this 128-year-old elevator is still standing in Wyoming and is well maintained. It is believed to be the oldest of the three remaining grain elevators in Stark County.
