The Steam Guy posted While the boiler of The Kentucky Railway Museum's former L&N #152 briefly sits outside, we are offered a unique perspective. The sun does well at illuminating the firebox interior through the currently vacant Crown Staybolt holes. |

kyrail_history The museum was chartered in 1954 when the L&N donated #152 to the museum. It moved into today's permanent (owned, not leased) facilities on Jul 4, 1990. Volunteers spent 13 years restoring #152, and it began operations in Sep 1985. The museum ran excursion trains for decades. Unfortunately, Class I railroads (at least the eastern ones) now make it very hard to run excursion trains on their tracks. Fortunately, the museum's facilities include 17 miles of abandoned former-L&N track that they purchased from CSX for $30,000 per mile. |
Just today, I wrote about Theodore Too the Tugboat, the Canadian equivalent of Thomas the Tank Engine.
