Patterson Creek, WV: B&O Junction (FN) Tower: Mainline vs. Patterson Creek Cutoff

The other end of the Patterson Creek Cutoff was the CO Tower.

Old "FN" tower in the Derailment that knocked the tower off its foundation... 
It's funny the Potomac river didn't take the tower out. Old "FN" tower had an electric interlocking...

The Patterson Creek Cutoff was built so that coal trains did not have to go through Chumberland, MD, which had become a choke point because of congestion.
