Found this cool site while scrolling, and boy do I have a depot story for you all.... The Milwaukee and Northern Railway, which became a part of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul, and Pacific system, built a railroad from Milwaukee Wi to Cedarburg Wi. The first train arrived in Cedarburg in November of 1870. The first terminal in Cedarburg was built in 1874. It became a storage building after a new station was built in 1907. Ozaukee County Historical Society acquired the 1907 building and had it moved to their Pioneer Village in the Town of Saukville in the late hours on a cold day in January 1983. The building was refurbished, a section of track was laid in front of the depot, and a 1940 Ribside Milwaukee Road caboose was acquired to add authenticity to the site. (That just went thru a full overhaul also!)
That was such a HUGE undertaking, considering where Pioneer Village is. Normally from Highland & Portland Rd in Cedarburg to Pioneer Village is about 20 min, 13 miles. But hauling a Train station on a flat bed is a whole different story, It has been all restored, and Home to a 1940's Milwaukee Road Caboose. Come & Check it out! Once again, the platform makes a white stripe between the building and the tracks. So it was on the west side of the mainline a little north of Portland Road.
This topo map accurately marks the location of the depot.
